The Smart's construction uses a low porosity 0-3 cfm fabric, Spectra lines, and multiple reinforcement strips. Additional strength is achieved by using lateral reinforcement strips between the line attachment tabs and the reinforcement bulkheads that are distributed from the controls. This has resulted in a reserve canopy that withstands potential impacts with current sink speeds without being violent upon opening. It also offers an astonishing glide angle for a 7-cell canopy, which greatly increases the chance of landing in the right place. Another important point is the large control range, which reduces the risk of a stall on touchdown, a phenomenon known on other brands. The Smart is more like a main canopy in its characteristics. The Smart is US FAA TSO-C23d and JTSO-C23d.
